Sexual Exploitation of Adults by Clergy

Resources for understanding and healing

Along with the sexual abuse of minors in faith communities, a problem exists in the sexual abuse or exploitation of adults.  There are many adults, mainly women, who have been abused by their clergy.  The issues are the same whether a victim is male, female, age 8 or 88.  When a priest or minister violates a vulnerable person sexually, it is an abuse of power.  This sprang from realization of how common exploitation is, its harmful effects, and how institutions involved have failed to address the problem.
